Anyone Else Think Joe Cortez Is A **** Who Had Bet His Life Savings On Mayweather Winning?

*laughs*
Listen up, limey! Cortez was simply following the rules of boxing. Over in England, a sloppy, reckless version of boxing has become en vogue. Guys get hurt, and sometimes pay the price like McClellan did. It’s because british boxers are basically inferiour, they are allowed to fight in such a way that’s outside the rules, but it has the effect of making them look better than they really are. Compensates for total lack of skill by allowed headbutts, bull charges and holding-and-hitting.
Ricky Hatton finally got out of the kiddie pool, the rules were enforced, and the poor lad from whereever the hell he’s from, got busted up. Maybe won 1 round.

the way they were hugging afterwards you would have thought so

i think the referee did a jood job basing on the fact the fight started out as a street fight. i just dont get it. how do you win 43 straight bouts and move forward straight up with both ur hands down towards the best fighter today i just dont get it. i got so angry watching ricky hatton consistently coming in to those straight right hand i was yelling mother ****** put ur gloves up or duck or do head movement or something. Im SICK of rooting for anyone to beat mayweather and watching those guys getting pummeled. i’M THROUGH! mayweather is the best ever period.

maxboxing’s Steve Kim put it best when he said “worst big fight performance from a referee I’ve seen since eddie cotton in lewis-tyson”. There is no way Hatton would come out whine-ing after the fight. That’s girly. He HAS TO promote boxing even though you me and anyone else knows it’s the most corrupt sport of all time minus card playin’ and has been for 100 years.Hatton is sloppy and Mayweather is cheap.Go to maxboxing or any other hardcore boxing site to sift through the bull.
Oh and befur homeboy goes floyd is a punk who only fights sure things that’s prob why the ref was in on it jus in case hatton came out like Rocky, which he could’v if his trainers didnt baby him. wait wait srew your queen

I will say that I was routing for Hatton, but Mayweather did deserve the victory for his performance. HOWEVER, Cortez did do a horrible job in that fight. He was yelling stop before many clinches even took place just because he assumed it would happen, he made no effort to warn Mayweather for the elbows and forearms to the face, and Mayweather himself was also hitting behind the head in front of Cortez’s face with no warnings. The little photo op was the icing on the cake at the end. If an unbiased ref were in the ring, it could have had a different outcome or at least went to a decision, but one of the reasons that Hatton’s gameplan went the wayside was because of Cortez. I hope his license gets yanked.
I will also say this- for all the talking PBF did leading up to the fight, after it was over, he had nothing but respect for Hatton, and earning Floyd’s respect is almost as good as having the belt.
And for what its worth, I’m from USA.

  5. whiskeyf says:

I heard that Cortez was invited by Floyd’s mom for Christmas

  6. HEAVY "D" says:

he was doing his jobs, there were reports of dirty tactics and holding and he wasnt gonna allow it,he let them fight on the ropes, but any sign of it in the middle of the ring he stopped it. Joe Cortez did a good job! dont be mad cuz your chump got his S*@t pushed in. Try again!

  7. M2V says:

it was a poor performance from him,his elbow was in his face all thru the fight and he did nothing, didnt even warn him and that did make a difference, cant blame mayweather for it tho and to be honest i dont think it would have changed the outcome.

  8. razawire says:

No….but I guess that many whining, whimpering, runny-nosed, teary-eyed , complaining, delusional Crybaby British Fans believe it the same way they believe in Santa. —- The REAL truth is that Ricky was slaughtered because there is only 1 Ricky Hatton & it takes a lot more than 1 to beat PBF.

  9. Anonymous says:

**** have put it better myself.

  10. liam_fro says:

It is kinda hard to say Cortez made Hatton lose, Cortez did not knock him out, Floyd did, Cortez is a great referee and has years of experience, plus Hatton was De La Hoya’s boy, and he is friends with Oscar

  11. Scream Bloody Gore anti jonas says:

why do english people always look for somone to blame there was no way that hatton would beat mayweather

  12. Padraig D says:

He took a punt. At least he can spell.

  13. Platobee says:

As a neutral watching this fight I thought that it was a pitiful attempt at refereeing. I hate think that in this day and age boxing could be corrupt!!!!!! but something was not quite right.
At the end of the day Hatton had no real complaints about the ref – he knew that he was not fighting to his maximum ability. However, I didn’t really see much of FMs power but hand speed was great – he caught RH with some lightening jabs but he didn’t really live up to his reputation.
    But such is life…

  14. !ndy says:

Don’t know what you lot – Brits and Americans – are getting all steamed up about. NOBODY LOST! BOTH boxers got MEGABUCK purses, only difference was one got quite a bit more than the other! Anyone wants to give me 10 million quid for someone to knock the sh it out of me, give me time and date and I’ll be there wi’ bells on!!!!!

  15. CAT says:

Ummm yeah Joe put his life savings on the line just like the Ref in Hatton’s last two fights prior put his money on Hatton winning right? Stop with the BS already.
If Hatton is pushing and hitting behind the head when he’s been repeatedly WARNED not to, and all of that is clearly NOT ALLOWED, then why are you getting mad for taking a point away. All his grappling and clinching might be better suited for fighting in London, but certainly not in the U.S. You act as if Floyd wasn’t warned for using his forearm. If he used it as many times as Hatton hit behind the head, I bet you he would have been docked too.
For all the talk about Hatton having an arsenal of weapons why didn’t he use them when the ref did allow them to fight on the inside? How can all his weapons only land 68 times through 9 rounds? How can someone who supposedly has all the ANSWERS for MAYWEATHER go back on a style he repeatedly used for others when he is clearly fighting someone better then anyone he’s ever faced? And then you wanna talk about the referee? Please, ref or not Hatton got outboxed PERIOD.
