I have a savings account I opened a few years ago with a 0.25% APY. I see my bank also has online savings account with 3.75% APY.
Can I get the bank to make this into an online savings account so I can get the higher rate?

yes if your bank has on bank checking/savings!!!
Yes, if you bank at any of the larger banks like Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, etc. then they definitely have on-line capabilities. If you don’t, I’d encourage you to call the bank and ask them if you can open up an on-line account, or if you already do, but you just don’t know about it. I actually had an on-line capability with my bank before I knew about it and used it for the first time. Just call and ask.
You should be calling your bank and asking them this question. They are the ones who can give you the correct answer. You didn’t even mention the name of your bank so there’s really no way for anyone here to tell you for sure.
Chances are that you’d have to close the 0.25% account and open up the 3.75% account. But Andrea is right. Nobody here will know for sure. Call up the bank and ask them.
