Hi I’m an Aussie, I was just wondering if it is possible to open a high interest account overseas and if its a good idea? For example, if South Africa has an interest rate of 11% could I open an account there and get around 11% return on the money in the account/term deposit?
Yesterday I applied for a checking account with a local bank and as soon as im finish with them I want to open a savings account online.

I see all these large investment firms offering small interest rates over an entire year and I know they are making returns 100 times over within that same time frame with my money. Is there anyone out there that appreciates my money as much as me and gives me a interest rate worth investing in?
I am living in California for 3 months and my first 2 paychecks are not direct deposit and I was planning on opening an account. My other bank is not out here in California. I will be getting direct deposit for my next checks after these 2 into my other account.
