I understand that an individual can give as much money they want for education expenses without incurring a gift tax, but can you get that same tax treatment if those contributions are into a 529 plan?

I have invested in cash-isa where the maximum I can put in is only 3600. Is there some other investment plan where I can invest on monthly basis and earn good interest ? I’m looking at anything lenght of time. Thank you for taking your time to answer my question.
HRO has not been very helpful with this. They gave me some form but upon reading it I realized it was for making changes to a TSP account. I want to sign up today. I went to the website but cannot seem to find a place to sign up. Does anyone know?
What company should I go with and what kind of questions should I ask so I dont get screwed.
Please give me some articles as well on the best type of savings plan. Thanks!
I heard there are two different types, and one type is better. It has something to do with taxes. Obviously, I want my money to accumulate the fastest with the most freedom for my baby boy. I live in Illinois.
What are some good strategies?
I am signing up for Upromise and they offer a 529 plan as an option. The only problem is that I don’t have any children yet (I just like to plan ahead). Can you start one without the child being born yet?
furthermore, what is the return rate and how much can one invest?
Can someone please give me a hint as to which is better. I looked on Ameritrade and with the exception of the maximum allowable contributions, I really couldn’t find a major difference.
