I found an old check book, with five dollars still left in it from July 25,2000. Would it be worth my while to send for it.

If you haven’t touched it, it was probably sent to your states unclaimed funds department.
Let’s see- at say 4% (I’ll be generous) Interest, Compounded over that time period… -I’d say you have about $6 in that account -MINUS the $35. Inactive Account fees you will have incurred SINCE you forgot that checkbook… If I were YOU- I’d return that Checkbook to where you misplaced it- & forget about it for GOOD!
if you have any money left in it at all (banks routinely confiscate money from non-active bank accounts) it wouldn’t be worth more than10bucks
If you are an adult then the bank has certainly taken it all in activity fees. The can’t do that to a minor.
