Currently the top rate on offer for instant access is from ING Direct, which is offering customers a rate of 3.93% on its Savings Account or Yorkshire BS and Barnsley BS are paying 3.75% on their online accounts.
If you can give notice then FirstSave is paying 4.50% on its 90 day notice account or 4.00% on its 30 Day notice. Alternatively Progressive BS is paying 3.75% on its 7 Day notice account.
If you are referring to easy access savings accounts then I see no point in risking money to gain an extra 0.5% return. I would say go for the safest place with the financial economy the way it is. If you haven’t used your tax free allowance then get an ISA.
if you tie your money up for 3, 6 or a 12 month bond which is just like a savings account then you will get a better rate than just an ordinary savings account which is only 0.75 net at the moment.
